Nottingham Pair Win European Smokefree Supporter Award 2008
Libby Lomas and Rachel Lewis, from the Tobacco Control Team at Nottingham City Council in the UK beat finalists from five other countries to win the European Smokefree Supporter Award. This award recognizes the work of health professionals who help people stop smoking.
Libby and Rachel set up a new stop smoking service with very limited staff and resources and offered free stop smoking support to all businesses in Nottingham. The team has worked hard to promote the health benefits of quitting smoking, and have been rewarded for their innovation, dedication and friendly support.
Kate Spicer, from QUIT, the UK stop smoking charity, collected the Award on their behalf from CEO of STIVORO Lies van Gennip at the European Smokefree Awards ceremony at Artis Zoo in Amsterdam.
Libby and Rachel were presented with their award at a special ceremony in Nottingham by the Lord Mayor Councillor Gul Nawaz Khan and European Awards Project Manager Kate Spicer. |
